Three Ripping Ab Exercises For Men

Most abdominal exercises for men can apply just as well to women. However, there are no doubt some areas that men have to focus on in particular, like those annoying love handles. Yes, you know them, the handles we all love to hate!

In this article we'll look at 3 super ab exercises for men that will help you get rid of love handles, tone your obliques and shred that midsection. These are not necessarily just exercises for abdominal muscles, but also for fat burning in general. Getting rid of the fat around your waist is a a key to actually making that six pack you're working so hard on visible to the general public.

Ab exercise for the obliques

I gift from various martial arts, this attacking technique has been known to crack ribs and concuss brains (not yours, the other guy's), but it is also a great ab exercise for the obliques - that's where your love handles are.

It's generally known as the roundhouse kick. If you've never been involved in any kicking martial arts this could be a bit of a challenge to do, but with proper stretching it shouldn't take too long to get your muscles accustomed to the movement. Start out kicking knee height and work up to waist height, where you'll really start kicking your obliques into shape.

Get to a point where you can crank out at least 50 consecutive kicks on each leg. This exercise will strengthen and tone your body in multiple ways. Be sure you're well stretched though.

To shred your midsection

This won't strictly fall under the category of ab exercises for men as it's more of a fat burner, but without burning fat you can kiss your abs goodbye anyway.

Sprints remain one of the fastest ways to burn fat. They're even better if you add resistance by sprinting uphill or through thick sand. Be sure to run with conviction, especially using your arms and shoulders. This natural running motion helps to tone your midsection in addition to the fat burning benefits it provides.

Hanging ab rotates

This is a slightly tough exercise, so if you have trouble doing it, first strengthen your body to the point where you can do this. Hang from a pullup bar. Twist your body 45 degrees to the left. Now raise your knees into your abdomen and swing your lower body all the way round until you're facing 45 degrees to the right, then lower your legs. Repeat the exercise to the other side.

Once this becomes easy, try doing it while keeping your legs straight as you raise them instead of bending your knees into your body.

There you have it - three powerful ab exercises for men, and you don't even need a gym to do them.
